Short summary
The study reviews methodologies for surveying the ice filling and its dynamics in Dobšiná Ice Cave. We evaluated the suitability of using geodetic (tacheometry, laser scanning, digital photogrammetry) and geophysical (microgravimetry, georadar) technologies depending on the expected results. The cave ice is characterized by its dynamic inter-annual changes, dependent on the climate and anthropogenic factors. There is a constant need for regular monitoring to preserve this natural phenomenon.

The gravity field of the Earth expresses the overall effect of the distribution of different rocks at depth with their distinguishing densities. Our work is the first to present the high-resolution gravity map of the entire Alpine orogen, for which high-quality land and sea data were reprocessed with the exact same calculation procedures. The results reflect the local and regional structure of the Alpine lithosphere in great detail. The database is hereby openly shared to serve further research.
